Montpelier's $25,000 commitment toward a countywide home-repair grant application moved into the paperwork stage Oct. 26, following the council's approval earlier this month.

The Common Council formally pledged the money Oct. 12. At the Oct. 26 meeting, a speaker whose name was not identified said paperwork for the contribution was being signed.

The proposed $500,000 grant pool would support repairs to owner-occupied homes for low- to moderate-income homeowners. Montpelier's contribution is a local match needed to pursue the grant, rather than an award to an individual household.

The funding discussion also described Hartford City contributing $25,000 and Blackford County contributing $50,000.
