Mainstream Begins Hartford City Fiber Build With Spring Goal
From Mayor Dan Eckstein's public update recorded on October 16, 2026
Mainstream has begun work on a Hartford City fiber buildout with a goal of finishing in spring, Mayor Dan Eckstein and a company construction representative said in an October 16 update.
The representative, identified as Kevin, said the planned build would run throughout the city. Crews will use underground and aerial construction in rights-of-way and easements. Work and setup had begun the day before the update.
Disturbed ground is to be restored as installation progresses, but the speakers cautioned that restoration would not necessarily happen the next day or week. Mainstream's construction information also ties restoration to construction progress and weather.
Eckstein directed concerns to City Hall and emphasized that subscriptions are optional. Appointments could not yet be scheduled when the update was recorded. No precise service-ready date or Hartford City rate commitment was announced.
The video is labeled October 19, but Eckstein identified the recording date as Friday, October 16. The construction-start account refers to that spoken date.
