Hazard Plan Vote Waits in Shamrock Lakes
From the Shamrock Lakes Town Board meeting in October 2026
The Shamrock Lakes Town Board held off on approving Blackford County's multi-hazard mitigation plan at its October meeting so members could review it before a later vote.
Michael Nichols said the county emergency management director is responsible for the countywide plan and the Polis Center helped prepare it. Such planning addresses ways to reduce harm from hazards.
Shamrock Lakes had discussed participation in the county's five-year plan update in April. The plan has now reached the town for approval.
Nichols said Shamrock Lakes, Hartford City, Montpelier and the county all needed to vote on it. Asked about timing, he said the town's decision could probably wait until the next month. No final approval vote was taken.
