Hartford City will take over the electric meter serving the Pee Wee football area at Sigma Phi Park after learning the power had been shut off since January. Clerk-Treasurer Dana Whatley brought the late-breaking item to council Monday night. Bill Bacon discovered the outage while preparing Sigma Phi for Saturday in the Park, the city's July 4 celebration. The city already pays for electricity at the park's softball fields and Little League area, but the Pee Wee football meter had never been in the city's name. Council approved putting the meter in the city's name and paying the bill by voice vote with no opposition. The move ensures electricity will be available for Saturday in the Park on July 4.
