Hartford City Leaf Pickup Starts Next Week
From Dan Eckstein’s Facebook Live update on October 20, 2026
Hartford City plans to begin leaf pickup next week, Dan Eckstein said October 20, with the city’s leaf-collection equipment serviced and ready to go.
Crews plan to start with oak leaves, which Eckstein described as the usual starting point before trick-or-treat. Collection depends on the weather. He said crews cannot pick up leaves in wet or rainy conditions because the equipment does not handle soggy leaves well.
Eckstein also reminded families of two upcoming Halloween events. Truck or Treat will take place uptown Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Halloween trick-or-treat hours on October 31 will be 4 to 8 p.m.
