Hartford City board updates six other property cases in one meeting

Hartford City's Property Standards Board spent the the last half of its Sept. 9 meeting moving six nuisance-property cases forward, with one 60-day extension, four removals from active enforcement, and one case left in court without a new vote.
At 725 Greenbriar, the board voted 3-0 to give the owners 60 more days to remove a house trailer and tabled the case until then. Ron Dudelston said the request had been relayed by Mr. Lancaster on behalf of Grizzell. Ordinance Control Officer Jordon Massey said the property had stayed mowed and maintained.
At 411 E. Commercial, members voted 3-0 to move the property from the active hearing list to the watch list. Dudelston said the board had asked for a rehabilitation plan, and Colleen Dickey said records showed title had been transferred to Ann Field LLC. Massey said brush had been cleaned up and the property appeared to be improving.
The board then closed out three other cases. Members voted 3-0 to remove 525 W. Fulton Street after Dudelston said the house and garage were gone and the court-ordered work had been resolved. They also voted 3-0 to remove 514 W. Main Street after Dudelston reviewed a case history that dated to November 2025 and Massey said the house had new roof and siding work and looked largely complete. A previously discussed $500 fine was mentioned as part of that history, but no new fine was assessed.
At 539 W. Franklin, the board voted 3-0 to remove the property from its list after Massey said the house was completely down. He said dirt still had to be brought in and the site leveled.
The final case discussed was 518 W. Kickapoo Street. Dudelston said that matter had been moving since November 2025 and was already in court. Rothstein said the court record showed a continuance to Oct. 23 and that a contractor was expected to contact code enforcement as part of possible settlement talks. No new board vote on that property was audible in the reviewed portion of the meeting.
