From the Dunkirk Park Board meeting on April 22, 2026

The Dunkirk Park Board is moving ahead with pool season preparations, confirming a May 29 opening day with employee orientation set for May 27.

The board received 4 manager applications, 3 lifeguard applications, and 14 general staff applications. A pool manager and assistant were appointed — the board indicated these are the same people from last year. The manager will handle hiring remaining staff.

The board also addressed infrastructure needs. New pool steps were approved for the 3-foot area, replacing old ones that had "needed them the last few years." The kiddie pool liner has cracks throughout. Staff will attempt to seal it, but the board acknowledged a larger repair or replacement is likely inevitable.

Additionally, the Junior League Diamond dugout suffered storm damage. The mayor obtained a repair quote, and the board approved the repair. The dollar amount was not stated.

Earlier this year, the board began laying plans for the 2026 recreation season including pool and dugout repairs.
