By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on April 13, 2026

Dunkirk's summer recreation lineup is coming together across several fronts.

The city pool is tentatively set to open May 29, with staff orientation no later than May 27. The pool is still accepting applications for positions. Concessions will again use BES Concession Supply.

Adult softball started April 12. Park employee Brad has hired two part-time employees and plans to hire a third. The Park Board approved an 8-week season starting April 12, a break, then another 8-week stretch ending around October. The board approved spending up to $5,262 from the Category 4 fund for field resurfacing using Hoosier Mix Field Dirt.

The Board of Works also approved a $1,092.33 quote from Steven Gillette to repair the Jr. League dugout, with payment going to the Dunkirk Industrial Development Corporation.

Other park updates include plans for cameras throughout the park, a purchased projector and screen currently in storage, and a proposed Glass Days event on August 22.
