Dunkirk Fire Pumper Reaches Day 67 Out of Service — City Switching Repair Shops
From the Dunkirk Board of Works and City Council meetings on June 22, 2026
Dunkirk's fire department pumper truck remains out of service for approximately the 67th day, with the repair vendor who has handled the city's pump work for 15 years described as "not following through" — backed up and waiting for parts.
Fire Chief Christie told the Board of Works that after consulting with other fire departments, the city plans to switch to a repair shop based in Anderson, Indiana. At the council meeting, Christie confirmed the pumper is still waiting on parts with no firm return date.
The pumper was previously reported as out of service for nearly eight weeks at the June 8 meeting.
