From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on August 24, 2026

The Dunkirk City Council voted unanimously to continue trash collection service with Bestway, rejecting a competing bid from Rumpke.

The council had been reviewing both bids since bids were opened since the prior meeting cycle. A council member made the motion to "continue with Bestway," which was seconded and passed with no opposition.

The current trash contract expires December 31, 2026. Ordinance 2026-9 takes effect January 1, 2027, locking in the provider for the next contract period. No dollar figures were discussed on the record during the vote.
