Dunkirk Adds $30,000 for Sewer Camera Inspections

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on October 26, 2026

Dunkirk authorized up to $30,000 for more sewer camera inspections Oct. 26 after the earlier round covered more than twice the footage expected.

The city approved up to $25,000 in May for East Central Contractors to inspect approximately 7,000 feet of sewer lines on the southeast side of town. The Oct. 26 update put the completed work at roughly 16,000 feet over 12 or 13 roads on the south end.

The new authorization is for additional work with ECC.

The inspections are part of Dunkirk's effort to reduce infiltration and inflow, or unwanted water entering the wastewater system. Treating less unnecessary water can reduce costs and leave capacity for future housing or industrial growth. Cameras allow the city to examine sewer lines as it works to identify where that water enters.

The Oct. 26 authorization funds another round of inspection work rather than a specific repair contract.
