CSO Phase 4 Construction Starting This Month in Hartford City

Dan Eckstein announced that Phase 4 of Hartford City's Combined Sewer Overflow project will begin construction in August.
Cobalt, the same contractor that completed Phase 2, will handle the work. Phase 4 covers two sections of the city and will tie into a state stormwater project scheduled for next year on Elm Street. The mayor said Phase 4 is expected to deliver the same flood-reduction benefits in its coverage area as Phase 3 achieved.
Eckstein distributed maps of the project area to council members. Councilman Ron Duddleston recommended posting the map on the city website with a description so residents can see which areas are affected. No specific cost figure was stated during the meeting.
Combined Sewer Overflow projects separate stormwater from sewage to reduce flooding and prevent untreated overflow into waterways during heavy rain.
