Hartford City Awards CSO Project to Cobalt, Pre-Construction Meeting Friday

Hartford City's Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) project has been awarded to Cobalt, with the Board of Public Works & Safety authorizing Dan Eckstein to enter into the agreement upon engineering review and approval. The vote was 3-0.

A CSO project addresses situations where stormwater and sewage share the same pipes and can overflow into waterways during heavy rain. This work is typically required to meet state and federal environmental standards.

Board member Pam Weiseman called it "a good bid," and Dan Eckstein confirmed the bid came in "a lot less" than expected. The engineer has already reviewed and approved the bid. A pre-construction meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 24.

The city attorney was absent from this meeting, so the mayor was authorized to sign the contract once engineering clearance is finalized.
