Blackford County Annex ADA Ramp Project Exceeds $50,000 — Formal Bidding Required

Megan, the county facilities manager, reported that the ADA ramp project at the county annex is larger than initially expected and will require formal competitive bidding because the cost exceeds $50,000.

The project requires a full ramp replacement from the door to the parking lot — partial repairs are not feasible — and all railing must be updated to meet current ADA standards. Megan is working with USI, the county's ADA compliance consultant, and a contractor on specifications, and will coordinate with Auditor Lilas Simmons on the bidding process.

The county faces legal liability if the ramp does not meet ADA requirements.
