CDC Expands Cyclosporiasis Outbreak to 9 States; Indiana Holds at 684 Cases

The CDC expanded its cyclosporiasis outbreak investigation from five states to nine on July 24, adding Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania to the original group of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.
The nine-state outbreak now includes 1,947 confirmed cases, up from 1,644. Nationally, total confirmed cyclosporiasis cases exceed 4,000, with more than 7,000 additional cases under investigation.
In Indiana, the case count held at 684 as of the most recent update on July 23. Blackford County's count remains at one case. Allen County leads the state with 109 cases, followed by Marion County at 69 and Elkhart County at 43.
