Blackford County: Prairie Creek Wind Farm Gets Two Road Use Agreement Amendments
From the Blackford County Commissioner meeting on August 17, 2026
The Blackford County Commissioners approved two road use agreement amendments for Prairie Creek Wind operations, both in 2-0 votes.
The first amendment, for Prairie Creek Wind Farm 2, permits transmission line crossings on 100 East south of 300 North, covering approximately 0.4 miles. The work will include some vehicular traffic on that stretch. These roads were not included in the original road use agreement.
The second amendment — the fifth for RWE Renewables — authorizes additional road crossings on 300 West, 600 North, and 100 East. This work primarily involves crossing roads with equipment rather than sustained vehicular traffic.
The county highway superintendent said he pushed for written agreements to formalize liability for any road damage from transmission line installation. Under the original road use agreement's provisions, Prairie Creek is responsible for repairing any damage its operations cause to county roads.
