Blackford County Performing Arts Center on Track — Exterior Walls Starting June 15

By Derek Wheeler The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Redevelopment Commission meeting on June 8, 2026

The Blackford County Schools performing arts center construction is on track, with exterior precast concrete walls scheduled to start being set on June 15. The building uses precast concrete construction, with walls poured in a factory in Indianapolis and shipped for installation.

A school representative reported that the auditorium's precast risers are in place showing the seating bowl, and the stage front wall has been poured. The project is a couple of days behind schedule due to rain but not significantly delayed. Keys are expected in April 2027, with kindergarten graduation potentially being the first event held in the building.
