705 W. Franklin Sale Moves Ahead With New-House Deadline
From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on October 5, 2026
A plan to build a new house on West Franklin Street moved forward Monday when Hartford City approved the sale of its lot at 705 W. Franklin as part of a two-lot deal.
Dan Eckstein asked the council to approve the sale so the city-owned parcel could be paired with Blackford County Economic Development Corporation's adjoining lot at 709 W. Franklin for one house. The city had started the sale process in June and delayed this parcel in September while members looked more closely at the deal.
During Monday's discussion, a council member said Blackford County Economic Development Corporation had already agreed to sell its lot for $500 and that the combined arrangement requires construction of a 1,200-square-foot house within 24 months. The council then approved the city's side of the transaction on a 4-0 vote.
The buyer was not identified by full name during the discussion.
