Hartford City advances some lot sales and delays another on West Franklin

From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on September 9, 2026

Hartford City Common Council approved one city-owned lot sale, moved toward approving two more on South Pearl, and held off on selling a West Franklin parcel while members looked at a possible larger land deal.

Council accepted a $1,300 bid for 414 N. Monroe. Council Member Ron Dudelston said the winning bidder met three priorities the council cared about: the highest bid, a neighboring owner, and a local resident.

Council then chose not to accept the lone $500 bid for 705 W. Franklin. Council Member Tony Scaggs said he wanted time to speak with a possible buyer about combining that parcel with adjacent BDC lots into a larger tract.

Members also discussed a combined $4,000 cash bid for 802 and 806 S. Pearl from local adjacent landowners. The transcript records a motion and second to accept that combined offer. The council then voted to move forward with accepting the combined offer.

After the lot decisions, council separately authorized city counsel to prepare paperwork for the approved property transactions.
