$23,566,175 Budget Adopted for Blackford County Schools

Blackford County Schools' board unanimously adopted a $23,566,175 budget October 27, with an advertised tax rate of $1.19 still subject to state review.
The vote followed an October 13 public hearing on the proposed 2027 budget. Adoption had been scheduled for October 27 rather than decided at that hearing.
The district's practice is to advertise a higher rate before the Department of Local Government Finance determines the final certified rate. Last year, the district advertised $1.23 and finished with an actual rate of 95 cents.
For this budget, the district expects a final rate around 97 or 98 cents after state review. That remains an estimate. The $1.19 advertised rate is not the final certified rate.
