$23,566,175 Budget Proposed for Blackford County Schools
From the Blackford County School Board meeting on October 13, 2026
Blackford County Schools held a hearing October 13 on an advertised $23,566,175 budget for 2027, with adoption scheduled for October 27 rather than decided at the hearing.
The proposal lists $14,193,347 for Education and $5,718,139 for Operations. Debt Service accounts for $3,232,689, with $422,000 advertised for Rainy Day spending.
The proposed maximum property-tax levy is $7,263,311, compared with the current $6,833,936 levy. Those are advertised figures, not final certified taxes.
Superintendent Yencer said the district advertises high because the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance can reduce the figures. He expected a total tax rate within a few cents of the current 98 cents, but no final certified rate was presented.
The advertised adoption meeting is October 27 at 5:30 p.m., at 0668 W 200 S, Hartford City. The October 13 agenda specifies that there is no October 20 board meeting.
The state notice says ten or more taxpayers may submit an objection petition within seven days of the hearing. No public budget questions were raised during the closing invitation.
