Nikki Gorrell
Hartford City at-large member and secretary of the Blackford Community School Board. Sworn in in December 2023 and elected unopposed in 2024 to a term running through 2028, she moved the performing arts center's design contract and seconded its $19.8 million construction contract.
The 60-second story
Nikki Gorrell holds the Hartford City at-large seat on the Blackford Community School Board. She was sworn in on Dec. 19, 2023, ran unopposed in November 2024 and was sworn in for a full term in January 2025. The board elected her secretary in January 2024 and has kept her in the post since; she is also secretary of the board of finance.
She moved the February 2025 architecture and engineering contract with Barton Coe Vilamaa for the performing arts center and seconded the $19.8 million Meyer Najem construction contract in January 2026. In March 2025 she toured three auditoriums with the superintendent, board member Troy Kaufman and district staff as the project took shape.
She moved the April 2025 resolution rescinding the transfer of the former Babe Ruth field. In June 2026 she seconded the district's withdrawal from the Delaware-Blackford Special Education Cooperative, effective in the 2027-28 school year, and moved an administrative restructuring that reassigned three administrators; the minutes do not record a vote count on that motion.
Voting record: Gorrell is not recorded casting a 'no' vote in the minutes the district has posted. Of the 31 meetings with posted minutes since January 2024, the record shows her present at at least 28. The district's attendance lists sometimes leave her off even when the same minutes record her making or seconding motions.
