The City of Hartford City reported two water main breaks on Conger Street near Hartford City Intermediate School on Monday.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the city said crews were working on both breaks. It asked residents who lost water to boil it once service returned and to keep boiling “until further notice.”

Hartford City Intermediate School was without water for several hours Monday. The mayor’s office plans to hand out a bottle of water to each student at the school Tuesday.

Water service has since been restored. The city has not said whether the water is safe to drink without boiling. The boil advisory remains in effect until the city lifts it.

The city said it would keep residents updated.
