Two Federal Loan Deadlines Approach August 31 for Blackford County Farmers and Businesses
Two separate federal disaster loan programs — one for farmers, one for businesses — share an August 31 deadline for Blackford County applicants.
The U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture are both reminding Blackford County residents that August 31 is the deadline for federal disaster assistance tied to 2025 drought conditions. Nineteen days remain.
Two separate loan programs are available. The USDA Farm Service Agency is offering emergency farm loans for agricultural producers hit by last year's drought. Separately, the SBA is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans for businesses and nonprofit organizations that suffered economic harm from the same drought.
Blackford County is among 13 Indiana counties designated for drought disaster assistance, alongside Adams, Jay, Delaware, Wells, and Randolph counties, among others.
Both programs share the same August 31, 2026 application deadline. Agricultural producers should contact their local FSA county office to apply. Business owners and nonprofit operators should contact the SBA directly for Economic Injury Disaster Loan applications.
