Two Demolitions Scheduled Next Week in Montpelier

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Board of Works meeting on June 9, 2026

Mayor Nef announced the Robert King house and a property at 441 (street not stated clearly in the meeting) are both scheduled for demolition next week. A separate house was already taken down using PACER grant funds.

The demolitions are part of a broader blight removal effort. The mayor reported 36 properties are currently on a mailing list for code enforcement, and the city attorney is preparing to bring some of the worst cases to court.

The Robert King demolition was previously approved at $8,000, to be performed by Ramsier Excavating. The 441 property was purchased by a neighbor who is remodeling an adjacent property.
