A first concrete quote for Blackford County Schools’ tank project was around $30,000, Superintendent Yencer said October 13, with additional quotes being sought before an award.

Underground storage-tank removal was anticipated in mid-November. An above-ground tank would need a supporting pad and a fueling pad, along with retention features, protective bollards and state design approval.

Yencer said construction contingency money could cover the work rather than the Operations Fund. No concrete contract, final price or withdrawal from contingency was approved during the discussion.

He also reported that most earlier wind-damage repairs were finished, with one roof section nearing completion.
