From the May 5, 2026 Indiana primary election

Rep. Marlin Stutzman defeated challenger Jon Kenworthy in the Republican primary for Indiana's 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday, earning approximately 68% of the vote. Democrat Kelly Thompson ran unopposed.

District 3 covers all of Blackford County. The seat was previously held by U.S. Sen. Jim Banks, who gave it up in 2024 to run for the Senate. Stutzman and Thompson will face each other in the November general election. All three candidates were profiled ahead of the primary.

Thompson has said she voted Republican until 2016 but changed parties after Trump's election. Her campaign focuses on protecting farmland, lowering healthcare costs, and affordable housing.
