The Indiana State Board of Finance is scheduled to vote on July 21 on reimbursing local governments for revenue lost due to recent gas tax breaks.
The gas tax reductions have cost the state an estimated $533 million in total. Local governments across Indiana are projected to lose a combined $175 million in revenue. If the Board of Finance approves the reimbursement, distributions to cities, towns, and counties are expected within five to seven business days after the vote.
The vote is six days away. Blackford County municipalities — including Hartford City, Dunkirk, and Montpelier — would be among the local governments eligible for reimbursement.
