S.R. 3 Closing in Blackford County for Culvert Replacement Starting June 22

INDOT announced that a stretch of State Road 3 between Hartford City and the State Road 18 junction will close on or after June 22 for culvert replacement. The work is expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting.

The official detour route uses S.R. 26, S.R. 22, S.R. 5, and S.R. 18. The closure affects the primary north-south route through Blackford County, impacting commuters traveling between Hartford City, Dunkirk, and Montpelier.

This closure is separate from the $8.9 million INDOT reconstruction project on Highway 3 North, which has right-of-way work beginning June 30. The culvert replacement is south of Hartford City; the larger reconstruction project is north.

Residents who use S.R. 3 for daily commuting should plan for extra travel time during the closure week.
