Shamrock Lakes Orders Warning Letter Over Tall Grass

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Town of Shamrock Lakes Town Board meeting on September 17, 2026

The Shamrock Lakes Town Board voted Sept. 17 to send a formal warning letter over an overgrown property at Oneida and Angling, beginning the town's own enforcement step under its mowing ordinance.

Board members identified the site as Jerry Stoltz's old house and said the owner was James Young, who also owns a lot across the street. The discussion indicates the letter will warn that the property is out of compliance and explain that if the owner does not fix the problem within the ordinance deadline, the town can have the grass cut and recover the cost through a lien.

Clerk-Treasurer Diann Nichols said Rick Schultz, identified in the meeting as president of the Crestview association, had already sent a separate letter because the lake association has its own mowing standards.

The board's vote adds municipal enforcement on top of that earlier association notice.
