Shamrock Lakes Goose Removal Pushed to Next Season Over Cost Concerns

From the Shamrock Lakes Town Board meeting on April 23, 2026

Plans for professional goose removal across all bodies of water in Shamrock Lakes have been pushed to next season. The estimated cost of $7,000 to $8,000 would require cooperation from all three lake associations in the area, and the Lake Association does not have the funds this year.

Two options were discussed: relocation to Huntington, Indiana — though the geese would likely fly back — and off-site euthanization. Board members noted potential public backlash from the euthanization option. Contacts at the other associations have been reached or are pending.
