Shamrock Lakes Delays Park Fund Ordinance Reading
From the Town of Shamrock Lakes Town Board meeting on September 17, 2026
Shamrock Lakes officials delayed a planned second reading of the town's park fund ordinance on Sept. 17 while they sort out how to handle a $37,735 insurance-related payment that has already been deposited into the general account.
Clerk-Treasurer Diann Nichols said she was still waiting on guidance from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, the State Board of Accounts, and the town attorney about fund numbering and whether the ordinance's current language would let the town move that money into the park and recreation fund.
Board members described the payment as money the town received after the legislature dissolved the Indiana Public Subdivision Risk Management Committee. Instead of advancing the ordinance, the board agreed to hold the second reading until the legal and accounting questions are answered.
That means the park fund remains unsettled for now, even though the town already has the $37,735 in hand.
