School Board Filing Period Closes With Two Republican Candidates for Blackford County Schools

School board candidate filing deadline: June 18, 2026, at noon

The 39-day filing window for Indiana school board candidates closed today at noon. Two candidates had last-minute filings to run for Blackford County Schools board seats during the entire filing period: Kyle Pitts and Kerra Armstrong - both registered Republicans.

The filings come at a notable time for the district. Blackford County Schools is in the middle of its most ambitious construction project in years and recently voted to leave its special education cooperative. Statewide, other districts are seeing contested races — Hamilton Southeastern, Lawrence County, and Vigo County all have candidates who filed during the window.
