Roof Leaks Still Trouble Hartford City Parks Building Before Winter

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Hartford City Parks Board meeting on October 13, 2026

Hartford City's parks building is heading into winter with two roof leaks, no internet service and a cooling problem that still has not been fixed.

Parks Superintendent, Dustin George, told the board one of the roof leaks pours into the building during rain. George said the original builder told the city the roof warranty had expired and said he would take another look, but had not returned after several weeks. George said another roofing company, Three Little Pigs, had already inspected the roof and could be called back if the builder does not respond.

George also said the building still does not have internet service despite earlier assurances that installation was coming. He said the cooling side of the HVAC system remains down, with an earlier replacement quote in the $6,000 to $7,000 range, though some heat works in parts of the building. A planned concrete pad behind the building also remains unfinished.

The board did not approve a repair contract at this meeting.
