From the Montpelier Redevelopment Commission meeting on July 6, 2026

Dave Kieser confirmed the $99,000 RBDG (Rural Business Development Grant) application was submitted on June 30, meeting the deadline. The grant opportunity became available around June 4, giving the city less than a month to prepare and submit.

Kieser noted Montpelier has a strong track record: "Every time we've asked for one from up here, we've received it." The city expects to hear back around August.

If awarded, the funds will be used for renovations at 117 and 121 South Main Street. The building at 121 South Main is still in the process of closing and being separated from an adjacent structure. Remodeling will begin after closing is complete.
