From the Blackford County Drainage Board meeting on October 5, 2026

Blackford County's drainage board held off on approving the Prairie Creek drain plan after demanding stronger written language on boring under county mains.

Paul Schriver said newer county drains make simple patching riskier than it once was. A Prairie Creek representative responded that the company would commit to boring under all known county main locations and would amend its project documents.

Board members did not approve the plan that day. Instead, they said they wanted the revised language and a supporting resolution in writing before taking action.

The meeting also showed continuing concern from landowners about private mains and patterned tile. The company said those situations would be handled case by case rather than through a blanket boring requirement. The board said it planned to reconvene in two weeks.
