Montpelier Street Repaving Project Underway — Over $1 Million, Expected Done by End of June
From the Montpelier Common City Council meeting on June 8, 2026
Montpelier's street repaving project is underway, with the mayor describing it as "a little over a million dollars." Most of Main Street is being repaved, and the contractor expects work to be completed by the end of June — an improvement over last year, when the project wasn't finished until just before Jamboree in early September.
The mayor said the city has been "way behind in road maintenance" and plans to do maximum street work every year going forward. He cautioned, however, that the Community Crossings grant that funds the work may not continue because "the state is getting stingy with their money."
Residents can expect continued road work on Main Street through the end of the month.
