From the Montpelier Board of Public Works meeting on October 14, 2026

Montpelier was waiting on sewer-camera inspection work to determine whether a smaller repair could address work under its long-term control plan.

The water and wastewater report described possible rehabilitation of two combined manhole structures or correction of a cross-connection. The approach could be less expensive than the project previously anticipated, but no comparative estimate, final design or regulatory approval was presented.

The report also described a blockage near the water tower that took almost 12 hours to find. Two of three industrial-user surveys had been returned, with plant walkthroughs still to be scheduled. Those were operating updates, not findings of industrial violations.

Separately, Brad Neff reported a $1,022 quote for required wastewater laboratory testing. The testing was described as checking the laboratory's work. Neff indicated the department could handle the city expense without a board purchase vote. No supplier was identified, and no failed laboratory result or water-quality violation was established.
