Montpelier replaced well pump No. 2 after it failed, at a reported cost of $11,805 to pull and replace the pump.

Brad Neff, reading the water-department report, said an executive decision had been made to replace it as soon as possible. The expense had already been undertaken rather than presented as a new proposal.

The report did not identify the contractor or city fund, and no separate ratification vote was taken. It did not establish a loss of residential water service or unsafe water.
