Montpelier Redevelopment Commission Passes Annual TIF Revenue Resolution
From the Montpelier Redevelopment Commission meeting on May 11, 2026
The Montpelier Redevelopment Commission unanimously passed Resolution 2026-06, the annual determination of need to capture tax increment financing revenues. TIF districts allow a local government to capture property tax revenue generated by increased property values within a designated area and direct it toward development projects.
The resolution is a state-mandated annual requirement. If the commission fails to pass it, Blackford County can divert 5% of the TIF revenue.
Financial advisor Jim Higgins sent the required TIF notification letter on April 28 to all affected taxing units: Blackford County Council, Harrison Township Board of Trustees, City of Montpelier, Blackford County Schools, Montpelier-Harrison Township Public Library, and the Solid Waste District.
