From the Montpelier Board of Works & Safety meeting on July 15, 2026

The city has received the first shipment of new water meters — the larger-sized meters. Water Superintendent Chase Perry said five or six more shipments are expected but he does not have a firm timeline. Perry also spoke with the utility company about setting up the gateway system, a necessary step before meters can go online.

Brad Neff noted the new meters will allow residents to monitor their own water usage, which will help identify leaks.
