Montpelier Prepares Truck-Route Ordinance After Residents Complain Again

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Common Council meeting on October 12, 2026

Montpelier officials said they plan to bring back a truck-route ordinance next month after hearing fresh complaints about heavy trucks using newly improved streets.

During Monday's discussion, officials said residents had raised multiple concerns about truck traffic. Mayor Brad Neff said the city wants semis and other heavy trucks kept on designated roads except when local deliveries or construction work require access.

No ordinance text or final route map was approved at this meeting. Neff said he would return next month with draft language and a more specific map.

That moves the issue closer to legislation, but residents still do not have the exact street list the city plans to use.
