From the Montpelier Board of Public Works meeting on October 14, 2026

Montpelier's street department was inspecting its leaf vacuum for the coming collection season and asked residents to keep sticks separate from leaf piles.

Debris clogs the machine and slows collection, the street report explained. No collection start date or route schedule was announced.

The department also reported receiving its new 3500 truck a couple of weeks before the meeting. A liner had been installed, and staff were considering installing warning lights themselves. The report did not identify a manufacturer or purchase price. This was a delivery update, not a new truck-purchase vote.

Other work included pothole patching and alley grading ahead of winter. The city rented a soil-conditioning attachment for alley work, though no rental amount was stated.

Street staff also reported ball-diamond fence-site preparation and gravel removal, along with sidewalk cleaning at Firemen's Park. No separate contract total was presented for those tasks.
