From the Montpelier Redevelopment Commission meeting on June 8, 2026

The PACER facade improvement grant program — which pays 50% of improvement costs up to $10,000 per project on projects up to $20,000 — has received $81,000 in submitted projects requesting $38,000 in grant funds so far in 2026. The total annual budget is $150,000, leaving substantial capacity for more applications.

Approved projects include new siding, new windows, a house demolition, new driveways, sidewalks, landscaping, front doors, and a deck. All improvements must be visible from the street. The mayor expressed surprise that more applications haven't come in despite many forms being distributed.

Property owners interested in facade improvements should contact the city about applications.
