Montpelier: July 4 Parade Security Plans Take Shape

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Board of Works meeting on June 9, 2026

Chief Snider detailed security planning for Montpelier's July 4th parade. Cameron Bonowit is ordering additional barricades to block traffic on the parade route, and Dave Harriet from the Jamboree committee is helping recruit traffic control volunteers.

Snider expressed concern about Main Street traffic safety, citing a past incident where an intoxicated driver crashed into a house. A police car with lights will be positioned at the fire department apron to slow traffic at the curve.

Separately, Snider and Bonowit are re-evaluating the city's grass and weeds enforcement list to address unkempt properties on Main Street before the festivities.
