Montpelier: Henderson Street Lift Station Pump Fails — Second Station Hit

By Derek Wheeler The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Board of Works meeting on June 9, 2026

Water Superintendent Chase Perry reported that pump #2 at the Henderson Street lift station failed the night before the June 9 Board of Works meeting. Perry responded to an alarm, attempted troubleshooting — surging power, tripping breakers — and could not restart the pump.

Perry believes the motor has reached its lifespan. The pump was last replaced or fully repaired in 2023. Cooley's was scheduled to pull and assess the pump the following morning.

The failure comes as the city is already dealing with a VFD failure at the main wastewater lift station, meaning Montpelier is now facing pump problems at two stations simultaneously.
