Montpelier: Fireman's Park Security Cameras Lead to Juvenile Arrests
From the Montpelier Board of Works meeting on June 9, 2026
Chief Snider reported that the Fireman's Park camera project is complete, including a final PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera providing full-range surveillance.
The cameras have already produced results: juveniles who knocked over the park's outhouse were caught on camera. Two are now in the juvenile system "in concert with some other acts." Snider said the juveniles admitted they knew about the cameras but "didn't know if they worked or not."
Mainstream Fiber has offered to install fiber optics in the parks, which would significantly improve camera resolution and video quality. Snider described current image quality as "good" with room to improve.
