A Montpelier fire truck quit running during a house-fire response, and the department was discussing repairs with its insurer, the fire report said.

The insurance discussion concerned a failure at an active fire scene. No vehicle identifier, diagnosis or repair estimate was provided. Coverage and a return-to-service date had not been established.

The police report described a house destroyed and a family displaced. Brad Neff praised firefighters for containing the fire and said crews returned several times after it reignited.

The cause was not established. No precise incident address was given in the report.
