Montpelier Council Approves Opioid Settlement Resolution
Location: Montpelier
From the Montpelier Common Council meeting on April 13, 2026
The Common Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-03 to maintain Montpelier's participation in a statewide opioid settlement class action suit, coordinated by the Indiana Attorney General's office. The city attorney recommended approval.
The resolution was required to keep the city in the lawsuit. Mayor Neff cautioned that the payout would likely be modest — noting prior settlements yielded around $1,000 in unrestricted funds and approximately $20,000 in restricted funds required to be spent on rehabilitation services or similar purposes.
The resolution costs the city nothing.
