The Board of Works voted unanimously on April 15 to accept a bid of $8,000 from Ramsier Excavating to demolish a condemned home belonging to Robert King on Elm Street. A competing bid of $18,000 was also submitted.

King's property had a severe rat infestation that required city-funded extermination and caused damage to neighboring properties. The home was condemned by both the Blackford County Board of Health and the county building, planning, and zoning authority. King has moved to Bluffton and failed to respond to certified letters. A $2,500 fine was imposed, and the Blackford County prosecutor is pursuing criminal action.
